I had the honor of designing a cake for the Hanamatsuri celebration at my temple this past week. Hanamatsuri is the historic Buddha's birthday and the word in Japanese means flower celebration. I started with a 2 tiered hexagon white cake and filled it with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries. There was a light coat of vanilla butter cream and marshmallow fondant to decorate. I found some great sugar flowers at a store near me which helped with the top of the cake.
